    Tuesday January 4, 2022, 7 PM ET
Recently, Canada's representative to the Palestinian Authority criticized Electronic Intifada editor Ali Abunimah for stating that Canada “arms and funds the apartheid state.” The Canadian diplomat, Robin Wettlaufer, responded that
“we neither arm nor fund Israel.” Canada's Foreign Affairs minister and its top diplomats in Ramallah and Tel Aviv have all made anti-Palestinian comments in the last month. Read more:
Just Peace Advocates and the Canadian Foreign Policy Institute in organizing a public webinar on January 4 at 7 PM ET featuring Ali Abunimah and special guests to discuss Canada's arming and funding of Israel.

    2. “Gaza: Still Alive,” : Mental health in the Encaged Enclave, will be the featured documentary at the Voices from the Holy Land Online Film Salon, Sunday, January 9, at 3:00 pm ET. Register free at tinyurl.com/VFHLJanuary2022, watch the documentary at your convenience, then join the salon on Sunday January 9.
Abstract: When you think of Gaza, you may think of war and destroyed buildings, of economic hardships, the strangling siege, the high unemployment rate, the poverty and deprivation—but less often do we see the deprivation that is the invisible, unmet needs for psychological support for a population so in need of it. “Gaza: Still Alive” focuses on difficult questions. What is the effect on a Palestinian child’s mental health when they learn that they’re living in an open-air prison, unlike most children in the world? How has a 15- year siege and its wars impacted Gazans as individuals? How has it affected their mental health and life’s course? And what does the unceasing stress and trauma bode for Palestinians’ future as a society, and for humankind’s collective future?

    Panelists:
Dr. Samah Jabr – Psychiatrist & psychotherapist, Head of the Mental Health Unit of the Palestinian Ministry of Health
Harry Fear – Independent journalist and filmmaker
Dr. Elizabeth Berger (moderator) – Child Psychiatrist, founding/steering committee member of the USA Palestine Mental Health Network.

The January 2022 Voices from the Holy Land Online Film Salon is co-sponsored by USA Palestine Mental Health Network and Palestine-Global Mental Health Network.

Listen to the CJPME podcast for more background on this issue.

Canadian Boat to Gaza is one of the 40+ organizations which signed this statement: Defending Palestinian Human Rights is not “Terrorism”. We encourage you to send a letter to Canadian elected officials to tell them that the criminalization of Palestinian advocacy is unacceptable and unfounded: https://actionnetwork.org/letters/defending-palestinian-human-rights-is-not-terrorism
Please consider SIGNING this Canadian parliamentary petition  https://petitions.ourcommons.ca/en/Petition/Details?Petition=e-3679.  Canadian residents and citizens are eligible to sign (deadline: January 23).

    4. Freedom Flotilla-funded ambulance at work in Gaza - Report in the Palestine Chronicle https://www.palestinechronicle.com/freedom-flotilla-sponsored-ambulance-serve-disabled-patients-in-gaza-photos-video/ features the ambulance which our campaign helped to fund, with the generous support of donors like you. With other Freedom Flotilla campaigns, we were able to fund this ambulance which arrived in Gaza in November as part of the Miles of Smiles humanitarian convoy, and is now being used by the Benevolent Society for Disabled People in Gaza. Please watch and share this video showing this donated ambulance at work: https://youtu.be/NnUzYlM8mmI
