Dear Friends and Supporters,
As we mark three years since October 7, 2023, the devastation inflicted upon the people and infrastructure of Gaza has reached levels unprecedented in modern history.
What was already an unbearable seventeen-year siege has turned into catastrophic destruction:- Unimaginable Loss & Trauma: Tens of thousands of lives lost, predominantly women and children, and well over 100,000 wounded.
- Widespread Incapacitation: Tens of thousands of people—including thousands of children—now face permanent physical disability, traumatic amputations, and severe injuries with virtually no access to rehabilitation or basic healthcare.
- Systematic Destruction: Essential civil infrastructure—hospitals, water desalination plants, schools, and homes—has been reduced to rubble.
- The Blockade Persists: Despite the catastrophe, the illegal naval blockade and severe restrictions on life-saving humanitarian aid continue unabated.
This reality places an enormous responsibility on all of us in the international solidarity movement. When governments remain complicit or silent, civil society must act.

The Canadian Boat to Gaza, alongside our partners across the Freedom Flotilla Coalition (FFC), worked tirelessly to launch missions to Gaza this season. However, due to complex external factors, bureaucratic obstacles, and technical hurdles beyond our control, we have reached the point in the autumn where maritime weather in the Mediterranean is rapidly deteriorating and unsafe for passage.
Consequently, our boats will not be able to sail to Gaza before the winter window closes. Our resolve, however, remains unshaken:
- Continuous Preparation: We are using the winter months to refit, maintain, and upgrade our vessels so they are seaworthy and mission-ready.
- Coalition Coordination: Over the winter we are planning joint maritime actions with our international partners across the Freedom Flotilla Coalition and in close cooperation with the Global Sumud Flotilla.
- Target Launch: We are preparing to sail in the new year as soon as spring weather permits safe sailing.
How You Can Help
