    Dear supporters,
Please see the message below from one our Palestinian partner organizations in Gaza, We Are Not Numbers: their response to the #Eurovision spectacle in Israel has been to propose their own alternative, #Gazavision. Please read the stories of their six contestants (links below), listen to their songs, VOTE for your favourite, and of course SHARE widely with your contacts, on social media etc.

And today, to mark #Nakba71, commemorating more than seven decades since the Catastrophe that was the ethnic cleansing of Palestine, please join thousands of others in taking a moment to #deactivateAirbnb https://bdsmovement.net/deactivateairbnb & share you support.

    We Are Not Numbers
    Update
Greetings! You probably know that Israel is the 2019 host for the Eurovision song contest, which is a shocking endorsement of the apartheid government--with Benjamin Netanyahu safely settled back in power. Why is this European contest being held in Tel Aviv? Especially when the many talented Palestinians who live within miles are not allowed to compete? There is no moral answer.
In response, We Are Not Numbers is saying “no” to normalization and using the opportunity to showcase some of the emerging talent in Gaza. Above, we gathered at the International University of Gaza recently to plan the resulting campaign: #Gazavision.
We issued an open call to Gaza singers, and 27 entered. A panel of judges from the Edward Said Music School (Gaza's only such institution) chose eight finalists. (Unfortunately, two of the singers later dropped out because they hope to travel out of Gaza in the near future and they were afraid that being visible would mean they would be denied permission by Israel to leave. How sad is that??) We then shot videos of each performing their chosen song, and now you can "give them some love" by voting for your favorite one! Vote today, because the winner will be celebrated Friday on the same day as the last day of Eurovision.
Read and share the stories of the contestants and their songs:
    Ahmed al-Daoor: tenacious dreamer
    Ahmed Tafesh: singing messenger
Ghada Shoman: Singing to every ruin
Hashem Aljarousha: using his voice as his mission
    Jehad Shehada: renaissance man
Mohammed Annan: 'goofing' in school paid off
Our next big initiative will be our annual fundraising drive. It's what funds our existence, so please stay tuned and get ready to help!
    In solidarity,

The We Are Not Numbers team: Pam, Ahmed, Issam, Asmaa, Raed and Ali
